Jennifer saw a need for more individualized educational opportunities in the Seattle/Tacoma area.

Her journey into the special needs world began 29 years ago with her first son, who had ADHD, ODD, high anxiety, and a high IQ. As a mother to several children with various special needs (including dyslexia, dysgraphia, dyscalculia, processing disorders, cognitive disabilities, communication disorders, neurological disorders, ASD, and emotional regulation deficiencies), she sought solutions for families struggling with the traditional school system. She has home schooled, private schooled, and explored alternative education to find the best fit for her children.

In 2014, Jennifer worked in the public special education system, gaining insight into its challenges. By 2019, she moved to the private specialty school setting, bridging the gap between district needs and family needs. This experience led to the creation of E.L.I., where she oversees the care of students, families, and staff by collaborating with top experts.

With over 25 years of experience, Jennifer has worked with various schools and districts to provide NPA services in Washington. With degrees in Psychology, Sociology, and Criminal Justice, she has advocated for students with special needs and implemented behavior programs using PBS and ABA principles. She is also a certified Right Response Instructor.

Originally from the California Bay Area & Hawaiian Islands, Jennifer now splits her time between her home in the Seattle/Tacoma area  and her home in Hawaii, with her husband Kevin and their 10 children (four still at home) and three dogs. She loves visiting her 2 beautiful grandchildren in Texas, spending time with friends and family, reading, long walks, and being outdoors, especially at the beach.

Vice President and co-owner, Kevin, will oversee the safety and security of our facility and community.  He will provide crisis intervention training, de-escalation training & be responsible for the constant assessment and improvement of our policies and procedures. in response to ever changing best practices when dealing with crisis & escalation response in a school setting, Kevin will be working to bring the most current information to families and staff to keep our site and students safe. 

Kevin has been a Seattle Police Officer for almost 30 years and has led the department as the Union President, co-founder of the Community Policing Commission, school resource officer and current President of the Black Law Enforcement Association of Washington.  He is a certified CIT (Crisis Intervention Training) trainer, a certified de-escalation technique trainer and is a leader in communication and alternatives to use of force.  

Kevin’s unique experience as a person of color and police officer, coupled with his passion for school safety and student success helps him lead ELI as an innovator in crisis response and de-escalation that will directly impact the reduction of incidence of restraint and/or seclusion.

Thomas serves as an Chief Operations Officer at Embrace Learning Institute, where he ensures that ELI’s campuses remain safe, functional, and welcoming spaces for students, staff, and families. With over ten years of experience in management roles across construction and sales, Thomas brings strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and a solutions-focused mindset to his work. Beyond his professional background, Thomas’s commitment to ELI’s mission is deeply personal. Growing up alongside his younger brother, who has ODD and ADHD, gave him firsthand insight into the importance of structure, consistency, and supportive environments for neurodivergent individuals. This perspective informs the care and intentionality he brings to maintaining campus spaces that meet the diverse needs of ELI students. At ELI, Thomas works behind the scenes to support daily operations, coordinate facilities needs, and help create environments where learning can happen safely and smoothly. His blend of operational expertise and personal understanding of neurodiversity makes him a valued member of the ELI team and an important contributor to the school community.

Alexa has had a deep appreciation for educators from a young age, She recognized the vital role teachers play in supporting children who need help. With a heartfelt commitment to making a difference, Alexa believes that every child deserves the guidance and encouragement that dedicated educators provide.

Having worked as a preschool assistant for over a year, She found the experience to be both welcoming and humbling. The early childhood education industry holds a special place in her heart, as it is filled with individuals who strive to nurture and empower the next generation. Understanding the significance of this work, she is passionate about contributing to an environment where children can thrive.

In her free time, you can find her hiking, riding trails, swimming, and engaging in yoga, meditation, and journaling. They prioritize mental health and well-being, believing that a balanced life is essential for personal and professional growth.

With over three years of experience in behavioral and mental health services, Kenneth specializes in delivering personalized, student-centered support to children with diverse learning differences, including ADHD, dyslexia, Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), and other developmental challenges.  Kenneth's work spans one-on-one and group support sessions, collaborating closely with neurologists, psychologists, therapists, and educators to develop comprehensive strategies that address both academic and social-emotional needs. By integrating evidence-based practices with a compassionate, holistic approach, he helps students overcome learning barriers, build confidence, and develop the skills necessary for independence and long-term success. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, providing a strong foundation in understanding human behavior, mental health, and developmental processes. His expertise includes psychosocial rehabilitation, behavioral interventions, and skill-building programs, allowing him to support children in overcoming past traumas, emotional challenges, and learning difficulties. At ELI, Kenneth is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment where every student feels seen, supported, and capable of achieving their full potential. His dedication to individualized care ensures that families and districts alike receive the guidance and expertise needed to help students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

Nicholas is the Operations Manager at Embrace Learning Institute, dedicated to supporting students with diverse learning and behavioral needs. He holds a double bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Human Development, with a minor in Psychology, providing a strong academic foundation for understanding human behavior, developmental differences, and individualized learning strategies. Nicholas also holds certifications in AARC, CPR, and CPI, equipping him with the skills to ensure student safety while implementing effective behavioral support strategies. Passionate about working with children, Nicholas is motivated by their infectious energy, curiosity, and resilience. He specializes in helping students develop social-emotional skills, self-regulation strategies, and confidence in their abilities, creating an environment where every child can thrive. His approach combines empathy, patience, and evidence-based techniques to foster positive behavioral and educational outcomes. Outside of work, Nicholas enjoys snowboarding, dirt biking, and fitness training, embracing active pursuits that reflect his energetic and adventurous spirit. His dedication to personal growth and teamwork translates seamlessly into his role at Embrace, where he inspires students, supports families, and contributes to a collaborative, positive school environment.

Ashley brings over a decade of experience in operations, people management, and process improvement to her role as a Human Resources Specialist. With a strong foundation in business management and human resources, Ashley is dedicated to fostering a positive and productive workplace culture.

Before joining Embrace Learning Institute, Ashley served as Senior Operations Manager at Pivot Point Consulting, where she led the operations team in areas such as payroll, on-boarding, performance management, and process optimization. She played a pivotal role in developing standard operating procedures, managing budgets, and ensuring seamless collaboration across departments to enhance both employee and client experiences.

Ashley’s background also includes leadership roles in healthcare IT, real estate, and manufacturing, where she gained comprehensive experience in human resources, training, employee relations, and office management. Her proficiency in tools like QuickBooks, WorkDove, and UKG supports her ability to streamline HR processes and maintain compliance.

Known for her exceptional communication and relationship-building skills, Ashley is passionate about helping employees thrive and aligning HR initiatives with business goals. She is excited to bring her operational excellence and people-first mindset to Embrace Learning Institute as they continue to grow and innovate.

Jonathan serves as the Excective assistant to the COO. With a strong background in education and behavioral support, Jonathan brings a systems-level mindset to helping neurodivergent youth access the services they need to thrive.

A certified trainer in both Ukeru and Handle With Care, Jonathan leads organizational de-escalation and restraint training, while also developing and implementing streamlined systems that support safe, effective, and compassionate care. His ability to solve complex operational challenges has helped strengthen the infrastructure of Encompass Assets as the organization expands its reach and impact.

Jonathan began his career as a paraeducator before becoming a high school teacher within the company. His rise to COO is a reflection of his deep commitment to the mission and his belief in consistent, purpose-driven leadership. His personal mission is clear: “Through leadership and work ethic, guide my immediate area of influence to success. Providing correct & consistent leadership to all, so that every coworker under me feels at liberty to fully devote their talents to a purpose.”

Outside of his work, Jonathan is deeply rooted in his community. He volunteers as a youth football coach and enjoys spending time outdoors with his two sons—often hiking, swimming, or just enjoying nature together.

Kaden is an Administrative Assistant at E.L.I. His skills include advanced organizational skills, along with installing and setting up various types of technology for the business and staff, in which he has excelled. Through various job opportunities, he noticed the accomplishment he derives from being able to put such systems in place, technological or otherwise, he wanted to continue with it. When Kaden is not working, he likes to spend his time working on and building cars, specifically Japanese models while also planning a plethora of other future builds. He also enjoys working out and playing video games.

Robert is a highly skilled construction professional based in Everett with over 15 years of hands-on experience in both residential and commercial projects.  Known for his versatility and strong attention to detail, Robert has built a reputation for delivering high-quality craftsmanship across a wide range of trades, including carpentry, drywall, flooring, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical work. Throughout his career, Robert has demonstrated the ability to manage projects from concept to completion, consistently delivering results that meet both structural and aesthetic standards. His expertise includes framing, window and door installation, full kitchen and bathroom remodels, and structural repairs related to dry rot and water damage. He is also highly proficient in fabrication, with the ability to create custom solutions using wood, metal, and other materials to meet unique project needs. Robert spent over a decade with Procraft Industries, where he specialized in window installations, remodeling, and structural restoration. In addition, as an independent contractor, he has successfully managed residential projects, built decks and custom finishes, and maintained strong client relationships through reliable service and consistent results. In his role with Sound Property Management, Robert has provided maintenance and emergency repair services, further showcasing his adaptability and problem-solving abilities in fast-paced environments. His work emphasizes safety, efficiency, and minimal disruption to tenants. Recognized for his strong work ethic, organization, and positive, solutions-focused attitude, Robert is a dependable team player who takes pride in maintaining clean, safe job sites and exceeding client expectations. His broad skill set, combined with his mechanical aptitude and commitment to excellence, makes him a valuable asset on any project.
